Chapter Vertical

Defense, Space & National Security.

Serving officers, veterans, space and strategic professionals — and the families who carry the cost of that service.

Service & strategy

Defense, Space & National Security.

Service in uniform asks more of a family than of an individual. This council is built as much for the families as for those who serve.

The Defense, Space & National Security Council brings together serving and retired armed-forces personnel, defence-sector engineers, space and aerospace professionals, and strategic-affairs specialists. It runs the federation’s support for service families, guides aspirants to the academies, and connects veterans to second careers that use what they actually know.

What this vertical does

Six areas of work.

01

Support for service families

Standing chapter support for families while a member is posted away.

02

Veteran second careers

Placing veterans into member enterprises in roles matched to their command experience.

03

Academy & entrance guidance

NDA, CDS and AFCAT mentorship from officers who have been through it.

04

Aerospace & space sector

Members in space agencies, aerospace manufacturing and satellite technology.

05

Strategic affairs forum

Informed discussion of security and strategy, led by qualified members.

06

Honouring service

Chapter recognition of decorated members and remembrance of those lost.

How a vertical runs

The same structure in every chapter.

Verticals are departments of the federation, not features of a membership. No member pays to belong to one: every member of a chapter may join any vertical whose work they can contribute to.

STEP 1Council

Every chapter constitutes the vertical as a standing council with its own convenor and members.

STEP 2Charter

The council agrees a yearly charter — what it will run, for whom, and how it will be judged.

STEP 3Programme

It runs its own calendar of sessions, clinics, camps and referrals through the year.

STEP 4Account

It reports to the chapter and to the federation, so the work is visible and comparable.
